On Thursday, Make America Great Again Inc. released a devastating new ad aimed at President Joe Biden's age ahead of his State of the Union Address at 9 PM EST. The ad, which asks whether Biden can survive a full second term, has sparked considerable controversy and a direct response from the White House.
The ad begins with a scenario that many Americans are now familiar with: Joe Biden struggling with his words. "We can all see Joe Biden's weakness," the ad's narrator says alongside clips of the president stumbling up steps and getting lost on stage. "If Biden wins, can he even survive till 2029? The real question is, can we?"
The 81-year-old Biden is already the oldest Commander-in-Chief in the nation's history, and he would be 86 by the time he left the White House on January 20, 2029, following a hypothetical four more years in the White House. He has repeatedly shown his age carrying out his presidential duties and while on the campaign trail. Whether it's having limited public appearances, refusing to take questions from the press, tripping up the stairs of Air Force One, losing his train of thought during prepared remarks, or infamously mixing up the president of Mexico and Egypt, the American people see Biden's daily decline.
In response to the controversial ad, the Biden campaign issued a statement that attempted to defect the criticism and instead turn their sites on the presumptive GOP nominee. "This is a sick and deranged stunt from a broke and struggling campaign that can't defend Trump's extreme Project 2025 to ban abortion, seperate families, raise costs on the middle class, repeal health care, and sow chaos and division," Biden-Harris campaign spokesperson Ammar Moussa said, referring to The Heritage Foundation's presidential transition project that aims to staff the next Trump administration. "Trump tried this strategy four years ago and got his ass kicked by Joe Biden - he should tune in tonight alongside tens of millions of Americans to see why President Biden will beat him again this November."
While the Biden campaign can attempt to deflect away the criticism, it is a fact that Americans across the country are pointing out. A recent ABC News/Ipsos survey from February 9-10 showed that 86 percent of Americans believe Biden is too old to serve another term in the White House. Voters are beginning to wake up to the fact that Biden can barely get through a prepared speech, let alone lead the country. There's a reason why Trump is leading in every swing state, and it is because Biden's policy failures, combined with his age, spell disaster for Democrats this November.
