Candace Owens Explains Why She Won't Be Seeing 'Barbie' After Scathing Review

Popular conservative personality Candace Owens made her opinion on the latest summer hit ‘Barbie’ very clear, informing her audience that she had no intent to see a movie that is “anti-man” and pushes “toxic feminism.”

The movie from Mattel has been a massive hit so far, earning an insane $162 million domestically in its opening weekend and an immense $356 million internationally, per BoxOfficeMojo. In contrast, the latest Christopher Nolan film ‘Oppenheimer’ has only managed to pull in $82 million domestically and $180 million internationally, sitting at around half the success of ‘Barbie.’

However, Owens is not interested in this success or helping the movie gain any more sales at the box office.

“Obviously if you are listening to this podcast, you know one of the things that I really hate is that we are living in a world that is increasingly anti-man. While we are pretending that women are suffering under the foot of the patriarchy, what’s actually happening is that toxic feminism has risen to the top and is actually oppressing men with movements that make entirely no sense,” she said Friday on her podcast.

During her podcast, she discussed examples of toxic feminism where women were “vicious towards men” in a way that is applauded by many mainstream outlets. She also discussed that she had decided not to see the pink film based on the review of Sarah Vine, who writes for the Daily Mail

Vine took her daughter alongside her to the movie which she called a “deeply anti-man movie” that is “an extension of all that TikTok feminism that paints any form of masculinity – other than the most anodyne – as toxic and predatory, and frames women’s liberation not as a movement based on achieving equality between the sexes but as a cultural revenge vehicle designed to write men out of the story altogether.”

“I knew I could take her words at face value,” Owens said. The commentator goes on to quote the review, which says, “… My main objection is that Barbie is not really a film about Barbie at all. It’s one hour and 54 minutes of extended misandry, dressed up with a few fun dance routines and one or two (granted fairly decent) jokes.”

“If that’s what she is trying to convey, that men are either idiots or bigots, or sad, and when they demonstrate any form of masculinity they must be put back into their boxes by women. I’m just not interested,” the conservative commentator said, shutting down the possibility of her seeing the movie.

The ‘Barbie’ movie has witnessed tremendous success but Candance Owens has made it clear that she has no intent to be a part of that success. ‘Barbie’ has started strong but time will tell if it can keep it up.
