The results of a recent poll on newly registered Texas voters paint a clear picture: Texans want conservative leadership from their politicians.
With an influx of new voters to the Lone Star State, there’s been considerable speculation over whether Texas is on the verge of turning blue. However, the data reveals that new voters are not only motivated to vote but are eager for a conservative agenda that addresses the issues that matter most to them.
According to a poll conducted by Texans United for a Conservative Majority, 57 percent of voters who have registered in Texas since the 2020 presidential election plan to vote Republican in November. These new voters fall into two primary categories: “home-grown” voters, who likely grew up in Texas and are registering to vote for the first time (56 percent), and individuals who have relocated from other states and are now registering in Texas (44 percent).
Among home-grown voters who have lived in Texas for over 11 years, 46 percent plan to vote Republican, compared to 40 percent who favor Democrats. In contrast, recent transplants who have lived in Texas for three to five years show higher support for Democrats, but even this group is not overwhelmingly blue.
A deeper look at the Republican-leaning newly registered voters reveals a strong alignment with conservative principles. A striking 82 percent of them back Donald Trump, while only six percent support former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC). On the Democratic side, 33 percent of new voters align with the progressive views of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
These voters also lean conservative on key issues. A majority (51 percent) support eliminating affirmative action and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) programs in Texas. Additionally, 72 percent oppose taxpayer subsidies for illegal immigrants, and 65 percent believe the Texas legislature should pass more election integrity measures to combat voter fraud.
Election integrity was a standout issue, with broad bipartisan and demographic support. It resonated with 92 percent of Republicans, 53 percent of independents, and even 33 percent of Democrats. Racial and ethnic groups also echoed this concern, with 65 percent of Whites, 64 percent of Hispanics, 53 percent of Blacks, and a remarkable 96 percent of Asians favoring additional election integrity laws.
On immigration, 53 percent of voters expressed support for a law requiring businesses to use E-Verify, a system that verifies the eligibility of employees to work in the U.S. However, this issue was more divisive, with 65 percent of Democrats opposed.
The message from Texas’s new voters is clear: they demand bold, unapologetic conservatism. It’s time for the state legislature to move from a defensive posture to an offensive one. Whether it’s securing the border, protecting the unborn, safeguarding election integrity, or preventing leftist ideologies from infiltrating our schools and public institutions, Texas lawmakers must act decisively.
These voters are not calling for moderation; they are asking for a Texas legislature that reflects their values and protects their way of life. Anything less will create an opportunity for the Left to gain a foothold in Texas.
The time for half-measures is over. Texans are ready to keep this state red but need leaders who will govern with courage and conviction. If the Texas legislature takes this mandate seriously, they will seize this moment to deliver the bold policies that voters are demanding. The future of Texas depends on it.
