“After going through both treatment and surgery for breast cancer she is now considered cancer-free,” said Governor Ron DeSantis in an announcement on Thursday that his wife Casey, who had been battling breast cancer for nearly nine months, is now cancer-free.
In the announcement, Governor DeSantis thanked those who supported his wife and his family throughout the cancer battle saying “All of you who have given thoughts and prayers that have been given to my family and my wife, thank you for doing that. It lifted her spirits; it made a tremendous difference.”

The governor’s office announced the First Lady’s breast cancer diagnosis last October saying at the time that “Casey is a true fighter, and she will never, never, never give up.”
In a statement, Casey DeSantis stated that “There are no words to express how truly blessed, grateful and humbled I am to hear the words cancer-free. To those who are in the fight, know there is hope. Have faith and stay strong.”
Governor DeSantis then stated his support for women currently battling breast cancer: “for all the women out there who are going through breast cancer right now, you can overcome this. I know it’s very difficult, but my wife is proof positive.”
The announcement then ended with the governor stating that “if you wound back six or seven months this is exactly the type of news that we had hoped for. She still has more to do but I’m confident she’s going to make a full recovery. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers and God bless you all.”
