Chicago Mayor Calls for Violence Against Supreme Court Following Roe v. Wade Leak

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot released a statement on Monday inciting violence against the Supreme Court for the recent Roe v. Wade leak.

The tweet reads, “To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community–the Supreme Court is coming for us next.  The moment has to be a call to arms.”

Mayor Lightfoot ironically treads neither lightly nor is she the slightest bit aware of the hypocrisy that billows from her tweet. Is it not Lightfoot that governs over one of the most dangerous cities in America? Is it not Lightfoot that strongly condemned President Donald Trump for telling his followers to peacefully occupy the Capitol lawn? Hint: Yes, Mayor, that was you.

Mayor Lightfoot wasn’t content enough with her original call to violence and proceeded to respond to her own tweet.

Lightfoot and her LGBTQ+ followers will have an uphill battle if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. Especially given Lightfoot’s strong anti-gun stances. Unfortunately for them, the Supreme Court Justices are much too old to be groomed in a classroom.

This tweet marks a trend of Democrats threatening violence because women can no longer legally murder their children. Pro-life organizations and Catholic Churches have been victims of vandalism and even arson attempts as of late. Lightfoot’s statement may be one of the first times an elected official has outright called for violence following the leak.

It is easy enough to understand that weaponized hypocrisy is a powerful political tool (and one more often utilized by the Democrats than the Republicans), but this case is particularly egregious and nonsensical. Lightfoot and anyone in agreeance with her call to arms is either willfully ignorant of their inconsistency or too prideful and taken aback by the leak to admit it.

Whether fellow Democrats will condemn Lightfoot is up in the air, but there is little hope that she will be held accountable. Until Republicans are able to hold Democrats accountable, we’ll have to continue to hear her and her base spew out blatant calls to violence rife with ideological inconsistencies.
