Post-Debate CNN Poll Shows Trump DOMINATING, Harris Outperforms Biden At Top Of Ticket

A new CNN poll released on Tuesday reveals the devastating impact that President Joe Biden's debate performance last week is having on his re-election chances as Democrats contemplate ousting Biden and replacing him with another candidate that could take on presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump in November.

The poll, conducted by SSRS from June 28-30, found that Trump is beating Biden nationally by six points, 49 percent to 43 percent. The survey's findings are consistent with recent polling from CNN and indicate that Biden's debate performance has significantly hurt his chances at re-election as Trump maintains his lead. The president and his aides hoped that the debate could reverse their campaign's misfortune, but it has done the exact opposite.

Americans have also soured on Biden's job approval, with a record low of 36 percent approving Biden's handling of the presidency and 45 percent strongly disapproving of Biden's time in office. The poll also found that Trump beats Biden on a plethora of issues, including being 19 percent more trusted to handle the economy, 22 percent more trusted to handle immigration, and 10 percent more trusted to handle foreign affairs.

CNN also asked the 1,045 registered voters about other Democratic candidates who have been suggested to replace Biden at the top of the ticket. The survey found that Vice President Kamala Harris was within the margin of error when matched up against Trump, with the 45th president holding 47 percent support compared to Harris' 45 percent support. Other Democrats couldn't match Harris' support, with Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) getting 43 percent support compared to Trump's 48 percent, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) getting 42 percent compared to Trump's 47 percent, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg getting 43 percent to Trump's 47 percent.

The poll also revealed that 75 percent of respondents believe that Democrats would increase their chances at holding the White House if Biden stepped aside and allowed a more youthful candidate to take his place with a shocking majority, 56 percent, of Democrats believing that their presumptive nominee isn't up to the task of taking on Trump.

The poll's findings represents a devestating blow to the Biden campaign who is attempting to hold together the fractured Democrat coalition around President Biden. The poll's findings come after states that have traditionally leaned Democratic, like Virginia, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Maine, have begun to swing in Trump's direction. If Democrats choose to keep the 81-year-old Biden at the top of the ticket, they could be looking at a landslide loss not seen since 1988.
