CNN Reporter Says Trump Is ‘Winning The Early Vote’ In Key Battleground State

CNN political director David Chalian said Tuesday that Republican nominee Donald Trump is breaking precedent among Republican voters by “winning the early vote” in Nevada.

Fifty-two percent of Trump supporters voted early in Nevada, while 46% of those supporting Vice President Kamala Harris arrived to the polls early, Chalian said. Republicans currently make up 35% of the early vote across the 27 states surveyed as of Tuesday, up from 28% in 2020, CNN reported.

“And then we asked folks, ‘did you already vote?’ Because a lot of people have, we’re talking more than a majority in Arizona in our poll say they’ve already voted and [we’re] getting close to 50% in Nevada. So this is now just looking at those who say they’ve already voted. In Arizona, those who have already voted, 53% for Harris, 44% for Trump,” Chalian said. “In Nevada, Donald Trump is winning the early vote right now, those that tell us they’ve voted, 52% to 46%.”

Republicans made up 43% of the early vote in Arizona as of Tuesday, while the party’s voter turnout in the state rose from 36% to 40% in comparison to 2020, according to CNN. Democrat turnout has dropped from 41% in 2020 to 35% currently.

In Pennsylvania, early votes casted by Republicans jumped by 20% since 2020, while Democrats’ early vote turnout in the key battleground state dropped from 70% to 59%, according to CNN.

Trump urged his supporters in key battleground states to vote early after criticizing the practice in the past. Droves of Trump supporters turned out early to vote in Mohave County, Arizona, while not one publicly said they were voting for Harris, NBC News’ Vaughn Hillyard said in an Oct. 16 MSNBC segment.

Republicans are gaining a lead in battleground states as a result of adopting the Democrats’ previous strategy of voting early, ABC News Political Director Rick Klein said Friday.
