In a stark inverse of the stock plunge that Fox Corporation’s investors saw within mere moments of top-rated prime-time star Tucker Carlson’s immediate departure, Warner Bros. Discovery barely saw a wobble when Carlson’s one-time competitor, Don Lemon, announced he was fired. In fact, the stock even went up a bit.
At 12:14 PM EST Lemon tweeted a statement informing his viewers with a twist: the network’s management reportedly never told him. He had to find out about his termination from his agent.
Lemon wrote,
“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.
It is clear that there are some larger issues at play, With that said, I wan to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They ar the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”

Jesse Kelly of The First had some advice for up-and-comers to learn from the former host, he tweeted,
“Don Lemon out.
Kids,
Hear me now. Don’t ever, ever, EVER badmouth your former employer in public. Ever. For any reason. Even if they deserve it. You’re only hurting yourself as all potential future employers just learned that you’ll be a problem when you leave.
Keep it private.”
