CNN's Plunge Continues, Primetime Host Fired In Major Scandal

New reports released Thursday have indicated yet another major staff shakeup at the embattled left-leaning network CNN. Reporting from multiple outlets confirmed in part by a CNN press release reveal that Alisyn Camerota will no longer host CNN at 10 PM after a scandal broke implicating her in an office affair with former CNN President Jeff Zucker.

Our colleagues at Conservative Brief reported that Camerota will instead be replaced at the 10 o'clock hour by CNN Senior Political Correspondent Abby Phillip. Phillip previously hosted CNN's 'Inside Politics Sunday.'

Radar Online wrote that Chief Legal Analyst Laura Coates is set to anchor the 11 PM hour. Between the two of them, they'll replace Camerota's 'CNN Tonight' from ten until midnight.

CNN confirmed the changes in a press release:

“CNN announced today a broad programming schedule that includes new anchors for the morning, dayside, primetime and weekend dayparts. The new lineup showcases the breadth and depth of CNN’s journalism, with shows anchored by some of the network’s most celebrated journalists alongside new opportunities for some of CNN’s most enterprising next generation talent.”

CNN leadership added, “CNN announced today a broad programming schedule that includes new anchors for the morning, dayside, primetime and weekend dayparts. The new lineup showcases the breadth and depth of CNN’s journalism, with shows anchored by some of the network’s most celebrated journalists alongside new opportunities for some of CNN’s most enterprising next generation talent.”

“By expanding the range and depth of our programming lineup across multiple dayparts, we are strengthening our reporting excellence throughout the schedule."

CNN announced via X, "CNN Announces New Programming Lineup @abbydphillip to Anchor 10 pm & @thelauracoates to Anchor 11 pm Christiane @Amanpour & Chris Wallace to Launch New Weekend Shows @Kasie Hunt to Anchor Early Start & @Phil_Mattingly to Co-Anchor CNN This Morning & more."

According to the New York Daily News, Camerota also wasn't the only departure with Christine Romans, anchor of CNN’s 'Early Start' and chief business correspondent, resigning in late July and having her on-air sendoff Friday.

Romans told her viewers, “I’ve decided it’s time for a new chapter,” she added that though she's “moving on from CNN, [she] will still be watching.”

“It has been a pleasure waking up early for you for so many years to get your morning started. I love CNN dearly. I have loved my 24-year run here," she said. "I am full of gratitude for my CNN family. It is a family. Everybody here are my friends. And I am excited for the challenges ahead.”

Camerota has yet to make a statement regarding her exit from the network.
