Blue State Democrat Councilwoman Hits Bicyclist Then Leaves Scene Of The Accident

New Jersey City Councilwoman Amy DeGise (D) was caught on video hitting a cyclist with her SUV and driving away last week, without even stopping to check on the victim.

CCTV cameras caught the incident at the intersection of Forrest Road where DeGise — who had the green light — can be seen striking cyclist Andrew Black, per NBC News.

The male cyclist rolled onto the hood of her Nissan Rogue before then falling to the pavement. By the time the cyclist had recovered, the local lawmaker had driven down the street.

Black told NBC News he’s still experiencing pain in his back, hips, shoulders, and left ankle adding, “This hurts a lot physically and mentally. It gave me some anxiety.”

The councilwoman did admit to her involvement in the incident, adding that she was, “thankful that no one was seriously hurt.”

DeGise was issued a traffic summons, and “fully intends to speak out more when the legal process is concluded,” according to the New Jersey Globe.

Despite calls for her resignation following the incident, her spokesman, Phil Swibinski, told the Globe the councilwoman “plans to complete her full term and continue in public service,” despite the potential scandal brewing down the line.

“Councilwoman DeGise was elected overwhelmingly just a few months ago and she has no intention of walking away from the commitment she made to serve the people of Jersey City,” Swibinski said.

The injured cyclist also claimed he hasn’t even received an apology from DeGise and explained, “If she won’t step down, just advocate for public safety.”

“Do something,” Black continued. “Don’t just sit around and try to sweep it under the rug,”
