A Houston area robbery suspect is dead after shooting a Texas police officer in the face late last week.
The violent exchange took place on early Friday morning in North Harris County, according to Fox 26, which is in Missouri City, TX.
An officer had spotted a vehicle linked to another nearby robbery call, and followed the car with fellow police. As they approached, the suspect began firing their weapon hitting female officer Crystal Sepulveda in the face and foot.
She was then loaded into a patrol car and rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Officers pursued the suspect on foot to a home on Winter Briars Drive in Missouri City.

The suspect shot at the officers again, who returned fire and struck the suspect multiple times. The shooter died at Ben Taub Hospital after being transported there.
The incident all happened outside the home of Carolyn Smith, who reportedly has family in law enforcement, and informed Fox 26 that she was concerned about the gunfire being so close to her home.
Although concerned, Smith was also grateful the situation was not worse for her and her family.
“Bullets didn’t go in the house. Bullets could have gone in the house,” she told Fox 26. “The car could have came through the window, so I feel much better to know God protected my son that was here last night.”
On arrival at the hospital, Officer Sepulveda was in critical condition, but is now in good condition and expected to recover from her injuries.
