Alan Dershowitz: 'Not Satisfied That Justice Will Be Done' In Trump Case

Professor Alan Dershowitz, formerly of the Harvard Law School, a respected author and legal scholar, expressed the alarming view Saturday that many Americans share. He is "not satisfied that justice will be done" for Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States and 2024 GOP presidential front-runner.

In an interview with Newsmax speaking with 'The Count' Dershowitz, himself a longtime Democrat and self-described "civil libertarian and a liberal," told the outlet that the cases being levied against Trump are both unjustified and demonstrate political persecution.

"As an anti-Trump voter, somebody who voted against him twice and intends to vote against him for the third time, and as a civil libertarian, and a liberal, and a Democrat, I am very dissatisfied with the way this prosecution has gone," he said before offering some criticism of U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan in particular.

"As a liberal Democrat, I'm not satisfied that justice will be done in this case in the District of Columbia in front of this judge."

Derschowitz explained that Chutkan, the presiding judge, was appointed by former President Barack Obama and has "a record" of bias against Trump.

As previously reported by DC Enquirer, Chutkan is considered "the toughest punisher" of January 6th prisoners and inflicted punishments in excess of anything the Biden DOJ asked for. She even infamously ruled, "Presidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President," and criticized Trump for failing to "acknowledge the deference owed" in her view to President Joe Biden.

Referring to the law firm Boies Schiller Flexner that Chutkan worked for alongside Hunter Biden until 2014, the legal expert called it "one of the most corrupt law firms in American history." He added, "The motto of this law firm essentially is conflicts of interest. They have been charged with more conflicts of interest than any large firm that I know of."

The esteemed law professor told Newsmax: "The case ought to be moved out of the District of Columbia, where 95% of the voters are anti-Trump," he said. "It ought to be taken away from this judge and moved to a judge who doesn't have a record, doesn't have a history with Trump, with Biden, with sentencing people harshly on Jan. 6. The appearance of justice in this case is crucially important."

As he said in an earlier appearance on August 2, "The standard should be very, very high when you're going after the incumbent president's opponent. Otherwise, we start getting close to a banana republic. That's where presidents prosecute their political opponents and that's not what we want in America."

Dershowitz's words are a warning. Not only is "the appearance of justice" crucial in this case, but the irrefutable proof of it. Anything less could result in the utter end of our nation as we know it.
