In a much louder echo of actions he took in 2021, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has ordered the deployment of nearly a full battalion of Florida National Guard Troops accompanied by Florida Department of Law Enforcement Agents, State Troopers, Emergency Management, as well as Fish and Game Agents to the US-Mexico border. The sizable detachment numbering approximately 1,100 personnel is ten times the force that DeSantis sent in 2021.
According to NBC News, DeSantis told the press in a statement, "The impacts of Biden’s Border Crisis are felt by communities across the nation, and the federal government’s abdication of duty undermines the sovereignty of our country and the rule of law."
In addition to the manpower commitment, Florida is also deploying five fixed-wing aircraft, ten waterborne vessels, and 17 drones.
Initially, the deployment ordered from Tallahassee is set for thirty days, however, according to the outlet this may be extended. Given the approaching onset of hurricane season, it's quite possible that the force could be recalled back to Florida should the need arise.
Following Gov. DeSantis' announcement, Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) announced in a statement that he has issued letters to all fifty state governors requesting "support in responding to the ongoing border crisis."
In part Abbot wrote,Every state is a border state under Biden’s open border policies.

I sent a letter to my fellow Governors asking them to deploy resources and help respond to this crisis.
Working together, we can provide the security Americans deserve.

"The flood of illegal border activity invited by the Biden Administration flows directly across the southern border into Texas communities, but this crisis does not stop in our state. In the federal government’s absence, we, as Governors, must band together to combat President Biden’s ongoing border crisis and ensure the safety and security that all Americans deserve. The Emergency Management Assistance Compact empowers states to provide assistance to one another in times of disaster or emergency, both of which accurately describe the current border crisis. Join us in the mission to defend our national sovereignty and territorial integrity and send all available law enforcement personnel and resources to the Texas-Mexico border to serve alongside our thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.”
DeSantis told reporters on Friday, “Biden cannot just release all these people into our country who are here illegally. Maybe it will cause them to look internally and say ‘maybe start doing our job and protecting the American people for a change.’”
It is hard to say how many states will follow suit and send their own reinforcements to Texas' beleaguered borderlands. With waves of illegal immigrants coming in by the thousands and gathering on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande, the men and women of the Lone Star State need all the help they can get. The help that the Biden administration negligently refuses to give.
