Do You Support Texas' Efforts To Secure The Border?: Despite Biden's Fight Against It, Majority Of Americans Want Controversial Texas Water Barrier

A new poll released on Wednesday reveals that the majority of Americans support the measures that the Texas government and Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) are deploying to deal with the ongoing migrant crisis, specifically the controversial floating barriers that have been installed along the Rio Grande river.

The poll was conducted by TIPP Insights for The Daily Mail, asking 1,369 adults earlier in August whether they were for or against the buoys deployed. A strong 51 percent of voters said that they support the measure while 35 percent said they were against it. The final 15 percent of respondents indicated that they were unsure of their opinion.

There were multiple options in the for and against opinions, with 28 percent saying they strongly support the use while another 23 percent somewhat do. On the opposite side, 20 percent are strongly against the use of the water barrier while another 15 percent are somewhat against their use.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the Biden administration has condemned the use of the buoys by the state of Texas, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre calling them “atrocious” in a White House press briefing. The administration has also sued Texas, asking for a federal judge to force the state to immediately remove the roughly 1,000-foot water barrier, per AP News

Abbott sent a letter to Biden in response to the lawsuit filed by his administration, writing, “Texas will see you in court, Mr. President.” The letter also defended the use of the buoys, citing the United States Constitution as well as several previous Supreme Court cases in the past that have solidified a state's right to defend its borders.

The letter also calls out Biden for failing to defend the border from illegals with the governor explaining, “If you would just enforce the immigration laws Congress already has on the books, America would not be suffering from your record-breaking level of illegal immigration.” Abbott adds that he doesn’t want to see any more deaths on the Rio Grande but that it is the responsibility of Biden to create safe legal immigration that disincentivizes illegal traversal.

The buoys deployed have been a growing issue with many critics claiming that they are cruel and thus should not be used. Ultimately, the letter from Abbott sums it all up. Texas would not need to resort to such measures if the federal government simply got its act together and secured the border itself.

Instead, the Biden administration has significantly worsened border safety and pointed its finger at everyone and everything except itself. Until the administration makes changes to illegals being able to flood across the border unperturbed, no positive change will happen.
