The United States of America is in a state of economic and cultural decline. So say about 73 percent of "Likely General Election Voters" according to a new poll released Thursday, on the cusp of the Independence Day holiday weekend. The poll is a troubling one, particularly for Democrats who were overrepresented in the sample group.
Based upon the polling figures from Trafalgar Group with Convention of States Action, the situation appears dire. An overwhelming majority of those polled, 72.5 percent, have said that the U.S. is, in fact, in a state of decline, with a mere 21.6 percent disagreeing. A slim 5.6 percent said they weren't sure, making the determination relatively decisive for a national question.
Speaking to The Post Millennial, Mark Meckler, President of the Convention of States, offered an explanation of the results.
"The current decline of the US is glaringly obvious to anyone outside the DC beltway who has watched inflation drive grocery prices higher, seen the Tik Tok clips of the rabid leftwing activists teaching our children, or attempted to walk down a filth and crime ridden street of our major US cities."
Along partisan lines, as one might expect, Republicans are more alarmed by the state of the nation with 91.7 percent assessing the country as in decline. However, surprisingly, even among Democrats, a slim majority at 50.7 percent felt the same, while a strong majority of independents at 71.5 percent also agreed with the state of decline.
Meckler notes, "What is most telling with this poll is where voters think the solution lies." He pointed to surprising results showing a wide majority of Americans, 80.6 percent, believe that "everyday Americans," not "elected officials," are best equipped to reverse the decline.
"They are no longer looking to political candidates or a political party to put the US on the right track. We are coming to the same realization that previous generations of Americans understood, America will become great again through the hard work and spirit of the everyday citizen. It will not come about because of politicians, but rather in spite of them."
The poll demonstrates not merely a decline in the American people's overall confidence in our nation's present state, but also serves as another indicator of a potentially fatal collapse of Democrat incumbent President Joe Biden's support from within his own party. As previously reported by DC Enquirer, CNN polling as recent as June 22nd showed Biden at his lowest favorability rating since his inauguration at a scant 32 points, a catastrophic plunge from his high point of 59 percent that followed the January 6th Capitol Riot.
