Et Tu Walmart? Retailer Pressured Arkansas Schools To Indoctrinate Students – Pushed ‘Racial Equity Institute’ Training

New reports have revealed that in January 2020, Walmart, the house that Sam Walton, one of the most pre-eminent capitalists in history built, brought a proposal to Bentonville, Arkansas public school administrators to host diversity training sessions from the ‘Racial Equity Institute.’

As reported by The Washington Free Beacon, Candice Jones, Walmart’s head of diversity, emailed district leaders in Bentonville, and wrote, “We want people to feel welcomed, comfortable, and safe living here.” And informed them that to that end, the largest employer in the world would offer to arrange training sessions for teachers with the Racial Equity Institute, a group “devoted to creating racially equitable organizations and systems.”

Jones claimed, “This would be great for teacher development and a great way to connect with the community,” according to the Free Beacon.

The report explained that by August, Arkansas teachers were learning the tenets of DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) such as the objectively false notions that “perfectionism” represents “white supremacy,” and “all our systems, institutions, and outcomes emanate from the racial hierarchy on which the United States was built.”

The overtures from Walmart weren’t limited to Bentonville, the location of its headquarters, either. A short distance away in Fayetteville, the school district engaged in a five-year-long “equity plan” that was bankrolled and designed by groups funded by Walmart such as a “DEI ‘research institute’ at the University of Arkansas.”

This training undertaken in Fayetteville included the “six tenets of critical race theory,” indoctrinating teachers into the belief that “systemic inequality = trauma,” the harmful effects of “microaggressions,” and subjecting them to presentations on “intersectionality.”

Carolyn Horine, a Bentonville parent warned the Free Beacon,

“Parents are often lulled into the belief that woke ideology won’t happen in their schools because they live in a ‘red’ state. Trust me as someone living in a conservative area: it can happen anywhere.”

Ila Campbell, a retired history teacher who filed a lawsuit against the Fayetteville district after she was denied a records request was reportedly left feeling betrayed. “We love Walmart around here,” she said.

“They’ve used their money to better the lives of people in Arkansas. That’s why it was so disconcerting to see them funding this stuff.”

Aaron Sibarium, writing for the Free Beacon tweeted, “Walmart was long a bogeyman for liberals concerned about the power of big business. Now the company is using that power to pump DEI into Arkansas public schools, transforming its hometown through grants, nonprofits, and corporate outreach.”
