WATCH: Fauci Says Mask Mandates Could Make A Comeback Amid 'Surge' Of Covid Cases - Will You Comply?

The COVID czar himself is trying to get ahead of the curve after Fauci stated on Sunday that he thinks that masking recommendations will likely be returning in the fall and winter as the United States sees a small uptick in cases of the disease.

The disgraced former White House chief medical advisor appeared on ABC’s ‘This Week’ where he continued to push his pro-mask ideas, this time being fully supported by the hosts.

"I can see that if we get a significant uptick in cases you may see the recommendation that masks be used under certain circumstances in indoor crowded settings," he said. Fauci did add that he does not foresee any federal masking mandates coming out.

"I would be extremely surprised if we would see that," he said about a potential mandate. "There may be local organizations that may require masks, but I think what we're going to see mostly are, if the cases go up, that there might be recommendations, not mandates. There's a big difference there."

For once, Fauci wasn’t entirely doom and gloom, noting how the American people are more prepared for COVID now than they were on its initial arrival. He did, of course, posit that the level of cases would be low given the fact that millions of Americans are vaccinated.

"Given the level of immunity that we all have ... in other words, people who have been vaccinated, boosted, people who have been infected like you and I, where we have hybrid immunity, the chances of this being an overwhelming rush of cases and hospitalizations is probably low," he said.

"I think none of us in the public health field are predicting that this is going to be a tsunami of hospitalizations and deaths the way we saw a year or more ago," Fauci said, pushing for the booster shot that he believes will likely be ready before the end of September.

The former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases already tried to make his masking pitch on CNN, being completely shut down by host Michael Smerconish, who brought up a major study that disproved the effectiveness of masking, per the DC Enquirer. Fauci resulted in making contradictory claims to continue pushing his pro-masking agenda despite being caught red-handed.

He took the chance to speak more on masking with a more docile host, saying, "People have commented on that study saying, 'Absolutely masks don't work,' which is absolutely not the case because there are a number of studies that show that masks actually do work. And there's a lot of confusion where you take a broad series of studies and you look at them in a meta-analysis. Only a couple of those studies were specifically looking at COVID. So I think we'd better be careful that that study that people keep talking about can be very, very misleading."
