Dozens of Trump supporters showed up outside of Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida after former President Donald Trump issued a statement announcing the recent raid by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on his estate, in search of classified documents from his time serving in the White House.
Fox News Digital’s Matt Leach was on the scene outside Mar-a-Lago where crowds of supporters gathered to show solidarity with the former president.
“As soon as I saw the news I was at first in disbelief and then realized that this is happening in my backyard so I better get up here and show my support,” J.D. Kennon said. “I think it’s a fishing expedition. I think they’re trying to tarnish him a little bit, try to make him look guilty.”
“This is crazy, you guys are nuts. The DOJ has been out of control for a long time,” one supporter told Fox News. “As soon as I saw it I drove here from Tampa. This is nuts. Just raiding the former president’s house. I mean come on, we all know what you are trying to do DOJ. You’re trying to create some kind of charge so he’s not going to be able to run for reelection.”
Another Trump supporter, Mike Buffano explained why he thought the FBI was going after the president: “They’re going to do anything they can to get him. They’re terrified of him.”
“And it’s not because of any other reason than the policies that he supports: America First policies,” he explained, adding, “Lady Justice used to wear a blindfold, and now it seems like justice is one-sided.”
“What they’re doing to the president is wrong. They don’t investigate anything else, but they’re going to investigate him when he’s not even here in the dark in his home,” a supporter named Ashley said.
Another pro-Trump protestor named Matthew agreed. “It’s pretty sick what they’re doing,” he said. “They literally raided this man’s home while he’s in a different state.”
“They’re trying to disrupt Trump’s presidential run possibly and possibly also the midterms,” another supporter added.
In response to the raid, several high-profile Republican leaders have spoken out and called for hearings into the ongoing investigations into Trump. House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and the Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) have both called for FBI Director Christopher Wray to come before Congress for questioning.
Republicans across the country have also called out the Biden Administration and the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the unprecedented action against a former president — making one supporter outside of Mar-a-Lago right that night, when he said the raid’s effect will be consequential come November.
“What I think it’s going to do is that it’s going to bring the Republican Party together again,” the man concluded.
And what better place to display party unity, than at the ballot box this Fall when citizens come together to cast their hard-won vote to preserve their freedoms and way of life.
