'The FBI Is Beyond Redemption. End It': FBI Whistleblower Calls For Sweeping Action Against The Bureau After The Retaliation Against Him Is Exposed

Steve Friend, who is one of the three FBI whistleblowers who recently testified before Congress about the malfeasances of the organization and the retaliation they experienced, called for the dissolution of the FBI and its powers to be taken up by local law enforcement.

"The [FBI] is beyond redemption. End it. Empower local law enforcement agencies with more opportunities to cross deputize as US Marshal Deputies. Experienced detectives can serve their local community and investigate local, state, & federal crime," the whistleblower wrote.

Mr. Friend was responding to a statement by Michael Stellenberger, who himself testified before Congress about the Twitter Files. Mr. Stellenberger had similarly opined that "The FBI has lost sight of the fact that it works for the people. We need to eliminate its perverse incentives. We need to clean house. We need to move FBI back to law enforcement and away from being intel-focused since that’s proven to be a recipe for threat inflation, illegal surveillance, and entrapment."

This statement was itself part of a long thread by Stellenberger on the FBI's refusal to hand over a key document it previously promised to send to Congress and his noting the agency's other scandalous behavior. He wrote that the "FBI promised yesterday to hand over a crucial document relating to a pay-to-play/potential bribery scandal, but today is refusing...FBI considered monitoring and entrapping a mentally ill or impaired adolescent as part of a 'domestic terrorism' case, according to a FBI whistleblower. We will present evidence of more bad FBI behavior tomorrow."
Mr. Friend had testified before Congress that the FBI, in Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL)'s words, "received cash incentives to inflate the number of their 'domestic extremism' cases" and in a media interview questioned the FBI's methods for arresting some individuals with connections to a militia group.
