Former tennis star Martina Navratilova came for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) over the weekend, slamming the organization for allowing biological men to compete against women in the women's category.
Navratilova quoted a tweet from the co-founder of the Independent Council on Women’s Sports, Kim Shasby Jones, where she rails against USTA for allowing transgender women (biological men) to compete in the sport. The specific instance that Jones was upset about was a transgender named Alicia Rowley winning the Women’s National Tennis competition after previously winning 55 other competitions, completely dominating the women’s side of the sport.
“Women’s tennis is turning into a laughing stock because of these terrible policies prioritizing the mental health and identity of men over women who have discovered a love of tennis,” Jones wrote. “The women are calling us and begging for help to be allowed to play fairly.”
“They have complained; they don’t know where else to turn. Men are winning national titles, taking the place of women on team tennis, and competing in women’s tournaments across the country,” she continued. “We need to let the women and girls playing tennis know that they deserve to be treated fairly and recognized for their accomplishments no matter when they pick up the sport. They do not have to reach any kind of elite status. There is already a category for male athletes to enjoy this privilege. Let female athletes enjoy the game of tennis too.” Navratilova then gave her two cents on the matter, writing, “Come on @USTA- women’s tennis is not for failed male athletes- whatever age. This is not right and it is not fair. Would this be allowed at the US Open this month? Just with self ID? I don’t think so…” The female tennis legend has been an open critic of transgenders, frequently sharing different tweets and memes slamming the illogical movement. She has found an issue with allowing mentally ill biological men not just in women’s sports but any space that is intended to be reserved for women. A brief scroll through her X (formerly Twitter) page will quickly reveal her feminist viewpoints from where her anti-transgender views seem to stem. The transgender movement has clearly gone too far and passed the point of decency. There was once a point where a neutral stance on the ideology could be reached whenever they simply wanted to keep their ridiculous song and dance to themselves. That point has long since passed as now they invade safe spaces intended for women and ruin them all in the name of ‘social justice.’ Justice is not ruining spaces for certain groups to thrive.
