Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is not relenting on his investigation over federal involvement in the Trump indictment even after receiving a letter by Alvin Bragg that rebuffed the prospect of the Manhattan DA appearing before Congress. Bragg has claimed, in an act of confession through projection, that Republicans have launched an “unprecedented campaign of harassment and intimidation” against him in an attempt to “weaken state and local law enforcement actions.” Bragg’s record reflects he has no compulsion preventing him from not upholding state laws and supporting law enforcement when it comes to actual felons.
Despite Bragg’s insistence that Trump’s indictment is a purely state and local matter (which stands contrary to the DA’s obfuscatory charging of Trump with the federal crime of illicit election contribution to himself), Mr. Jordan has sought the testimony of Matthew Colangelo, a senior counsel to Bragg’s office who previously worked with Biden’s Department of Justice, according to Fox News. This news item led Mike Davis, co-founder of the Article 3 Project, to proclaim on Twitter ” Cheers to @Jim_Jordan . He’s firing on all cylinders. Matthew Colangelo is the senior Biden Justice Department political appointee — and longtime Democrat operative — sent to Soros-funded Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s office. To revive the “zombie case.” To get Trump.”

In Jordan’s letter to Mr. Colangelo, the Ohio lawmaker noted that “[g]iven your history of working for law-enforcement entities that are pursuing President Trump and the public reporting surrounding your decision to work for the New York County District Attorney’s Office, we request your cooperation with our oversight in your personal capacity. According to news reports, District Attorney Alvin Bragg hired you in December 2022 to ‘jump-start’ his office’s investigation of President Trump, reportedly due to your ‘history of taking on Donald J. Trump and his family business.'”

The House Representative added that “You had previously served in senior positions in the U.S. Department of Justice and the New York Attorney General’s Office, both of which had competing investigations related to President Trump.” Mr. Jordan in the letter further expounded that “You are uniquely situated to provide information that is relevant and necessary to inform the Committee’s oversight and potential legislative reforms. Your recent employment has largely been focused on investigations surrounding President Trump.”
As the Federalist noted “Jordan revealed… that Bragg conceded to lawmakers his office used federal funds in the Manhattan DA’s Trump investigation” and that this according to Mr. Jordan allows “[t]he [House] Committee may therefore consider legislation to enhance reporting requirements concerning the use of federal forfeiture funds and/or to prohibit the use of federal forfeiture funds to investigate a current or former President or presidential candidate.”
