Rivera himself shared the news via Twitter on Wednesday, writing, "Morning, it’s official, I’m off @TheFive. My last scheduled show appearances are Thursday and Friday June 29th and 30th. It’s been a great run and I appreciate having had the opportunity. Being odd man out isn’t always easy. For the time being, I’m still Correspondent at Large."

The former Fox News war correspondent turned co-host added vaguely, "My appearances today and tomorrow on The Five have been canceled. I’m sure there’s a good reason." But noted that he would be "back week after next," though it is unclear in what capacity.
My appearances today and tomorrow on The Five have been canceled. I’m sure there’s a good reason. Never fear, I’ll be back week after next. Stay safe and happy. Thanks 🙏

The announcement comes just weeks following a public falling out with co-host Greg Gutfeld after he openly mocked Rivera for failing to "connect" with their audience.
The two traded harsh words over the accessibility of Electric Vehicles for average Americans, with Geraldo seeming to 'flex' with his EV Bentley, and Gutfeld criticizing Rivera's condemnation of Tucker Carlson: "You’re a class act Geraldo. A real man of the people."

Writing for Conservative Brief, Jon Dougherty suggested that Rivera's departure could be related to a June 18th tweet in which the former co-host posited that President Joe Biden should pardon 45th President Donald Trump for " any and all federal allegations" in exchange for dropping out of the 2024 presidential race. The notion triggered a significant backlash from many online, including former US Assistant Attorney General Jeff Clark, who said, "You and Rachel Maddow have given away the game. It’s completely unconstitutional for DOJ to try to lever Trump out of the race under pain of criminal penalty."
Responding to the news on Twitter, Former Deputy Assistant to President Trump, Dr. Sebastian Gorka, opined, "Fox News is in total shambles.".@GeraldoRivera, you and Rachel Maddow have given away the game.

This isn’t about vindicating the criminal law or protecting the public (this is a purported document crime, which isn’t a crime, it’s a civil Presidential Records issue, and it’s victimless).
It’s completely… https://t.co/aI8nhn5sSU
