France's 'Very Own George Floyd Moment': Multiple Cities Explode With Worst Riots Since 2005 Following Police Shooting

Since Tuesday, massive riots have exploded across the nation of France following the shooting of a 17-year-old Algerian Muslim boy. The fiery riots and violent attacks against police have led to the deployment of 40,000 officers to the streets of many large cities and several areas of the capital Paris.

Reuters reported that the Algerian teen, identified as Nahel M., was shot and killed in a police-involved shooting in Nanterre, a suburb west of Paris. Reportedly he was driving in the bus lane to avoid traffic and was pulled over for a traffic violation. However, once stopped he refused to provide officers with identification and attempted to flee in the vehicle leading an officer to shoot him in the arm and chest.

Nahel reportedly had a history of ignoring traffic stops and fleeing police.

The newswire reported that protestors lit cars on fire, barricaded streets, and attacked officers with projectiles after an initially peaceful vigil. After the march Nahel's mother told France 5, "I have nothing against the police. I have something against one person, he who killed my son. He did not have to kill my son," according to Reuters.

The rioters vandalized buildings writing "Vengeance for Nahel."

Andy Ngô of The Post Millennial reported, "Cars in a parking lot in Angers, France have been set on fire in attacks carried out by rioters. France is now on its fourth day of race riots by youths of immigrant background, anarchists, #antifa & the far-left," with video footage from Maël Fabre who noted that dozens of cars were in flames.

Ngô reported Thursday that "Masked crews of rioters have been going around the banlieues (suburbs) of Paris & cutting down poles that have CCTV cameras. In one incident, a severed pole crashed down on several of their own rioters. France has been crippled by days of race riots by youths of immigrant background, gang members, anarchists, Antifa & the far-left following the police-shooting death of a French Algerian youth on June 27."

Wall Street Silver shared footage of riots spreading to the city of Lyon.

Reuters reports that the National Police told reporters that new incidents in Marseille, Lyon, Pau, Toulouse, and Lille including fireworks and explosives occurred Thursday night.

Independent journalist Ian Miles Cheong sharing multiple videos described the situation in France as the nation "having its very own George Floyd moment as massive riots, sparked by the police shooting death of a 17 year old, occur all across the country."
