Following the announcement of the indictment of 45th President Donald Trump on Thursday evening, lawmakers, concerned citizens, and media figures all spoke out against the unjustified persecution of the leading 2024 Republican candidate for president.
Franklin Graham, however, fits none of those molds. The evangelist took to Facebook Friday morning to write about the impact that the indictment will have on the country, reiterating that it is a “shameful day for America.”
“It’s a shameful day for America as former President Donald J. Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury,” Graham began. “The Democrats have weaponized the legal system for their political gain while ignoring the current Administration’s faults and deficiencies.”
“There’s only One who can save this country, and that is God and God alone,” he explained. “Why should He even hear our prayers when we have turned our back on Him?”
“But I’m going to keep praying that God will intervene and save this nation so we will continue to be that beacon of hope for this very dark world,” Graham added.
Graham’s statement comes as Trump is expected to travel to Manhattan on Tuesday in order to surrender himself to authorities.
TRUMP FUNDRAISING EXPLODES 24 HOURS AFTER INDICTMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
This isn’t the first time that Graham has spoken out in support of President Trump, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.
“We need to pray for our country and where it is headed,” Graham wrote when the news initially broke about the possibility of a Trump indictment in mid-March. “The left in Washington and across the country just can’t get their fill of attacking Donald Trump.”
“They are so paranoid of him. The onslaught against him is continual,” he explained. “There’s no question, the media, and the left manipulated the last election, and they are scared to death of Donald Trump’s possible return. So, night after night, the media runs negative stories about former President Trump.”
“Now they’re talking about the possibility of arresting him in the hopes that this would prevent him from running for president again—this would be a huge mistake,” the evangelist emphasized. “The charges against him are definitely politically motivated.”
“I would like to ask Christians across this country to pray specifically for former President Donald J. Trump, that God’s hand would be upon him, protect him, and direct him in every step he takes—and that God’s will be done,” he wrote, adding, “We need to work together to strengthen this nation—not divide and destroy it.”
With the indictment of President Trump now official, Americans everywhere are watching, and praying about, what comes next.
