WATCH: Geraldo Rivera Lashes Out At Tucker Carlson - 'He Made A Mockery Of The Tenants Of Journalism'

In a new video released by The Daily Caller, former Fox News host Geraldo Rivera has levied serious criticism at his former colleague Tucker Carlson. Rather than just criticizing his stylistic choices or methodology, Rivera escalated to blatant ad hominem personal attacks and insults.

According to Trending Politics News, he issued forth with a condemning rant of Carlson. He accused the top-trending video creator on X App of "making a mockery of the tenets of journalism." Rivera referred to him as "pathetic," saying he had become "too big for his britches."

As reported by The Washington Examiner, Rivera was speaking to Mediaite about Carlson's January 6th coverage. "He was very, very, very, powerful," he said.

Rivera begins the clip by saying,

"In the discovery, in the Dominion lawsuit, you see how arrogant he was, how contemptuous he was of trying to do the right thing and losing the audience or how naive certain producers or certain reporters were when they complained of his bullshit. Uh, right. You know, it's, uh, it was pathetic. Really pathetic. He really, he, he got way too big for his britches."

He then explained his unusual complaint against Carlson... that the host listened to his audience.

"And I... The worst thing about Tucker, like I said I have no beef with that guy anyway. The worst thing about what he did was the, uh, the, the ruthless pragmatic pragmaticism that he displayed, Uh, 'I'm gonna do this because this what's the audience wants.' In other words, it wasn't the malevolent media leading the audience, it was the audience leading the malevolent media."

That was Rivera's description of "the worst thing about Tucker." That he, as a host, actually listened to and responded to his audience, providing them with the stories and coverage that they demanded and thus reaping the reward. Instead of dictating the terms of the national discussion as the mainstream media has for decades, Carlson flipped the script.

Rivera added, "Uh, what, what he did was unforgivable. Basically, he, he made a mockery of the tenets of journalism." Concluding, "Highly visible people do things they look back on and they regret ... but he seemed to me to willfully embrace something he did not sincerely believe in because it resulted in higher ratings. It stopped the hemorrhaging of the ratings from Fox to Newsmax."

It's fairly clear why Carlson has gone on to become a great success since leaving Fox while Rivera has languished on the sidelines. The replies to the video were quite telling. One X App user wrote, "Straight from the mouth of someone needing Psychotherapy treatment, its often an effective treatment for jealousy." Another quipped, "Why is anyone watching Geraldo anymore. Have we tried ignoring him until he goes away?"
