GOP Congressman Proposes 'American Pride Month' For July To Put 'American Exceptionalism Back Into The Spotlight'

A Congressional resolution to be introduced Friday by Republican Congressman Wesley Hunt (R-TX) will propose the designation of July as “American Pride Month,” to "celebrate, memorialize, and increase awareness of the monumental achievements of the United States of America and the countless number of patriots throughout her history which have made this Nation the last best hope of earth."

Reportedly the resolution has come in response to "the Biden White House, woke corporations, and the media" advocating "PRIDE" for the entire month of June, according to Breitbart News. Hunt told the outlet that he will be posting pro-America tweets on a daily basis for the entire month with the tag #AmericanPrideMonth, in a campaign to honor our nation.

Hunt shared a video to YouTube and Twitter with a voiceover from the late former President Ronald Reagan with the words, "In the words of President Reagan, ‘if we forget what we did, we won’t know who we are.’ I am proud to announce my Resolution declaring July, American Pride Month. I urge ALL my colleagues to join in this effort to celebrate and memorialize our history. #AmericanPrideMonth"

The congressman explained in a statement to Breitbart News

“In Reagan’s final address to the nation, he warned us what would happen if we ceased teaching future generations about our history and most importantly, what it means to be an American.”

“Unfortunately, in recent years, we have witnessed Reagan’s warning become a premonition,” he added. “Our country is terribly divided, and woke ideology has replaced American pride with cultural tribalism.”

It is in response to this tribalism that Hunt proposes a month-long celebration of American pride, "If the Biden White House, woke corporations, and the media can spend an entire month celebrating ‘PRIDE,’ then they can also spend the entire month of our nation’s birth celebrating American Pride."

He noted via Twitter, "My family and I served this nation in combat. American exceptionalism means something to me, and I want it to mean something again to future generations. Our progress is worth celebrating."
