Gov. Ron DeSantis Urges Republicans To Be 'Unified' Behind Trump

On Wednesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) discussed the upcoming presidential election and the need for Republicans to unite behind presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump as the general election approaches.

"I think when you're in these Primaries – you know, they have a dynamic – I think now we're in a position where we are unified across issues as Republicans," DeSantis explained to Florida Politics. "I think if you look at what's going on in the state of Florida, you know, we have unprecedented success that we've had in this state."

DeSantis' comments come after the former GOP presidential candidate met with Trump in Miami to mend fences, hoping to unite and take on President Joe Biden and Democrats in the November election. As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, a key aspect of the meeting was the potential access to Gov. DeSantis' extensive donor network, a significant asset he amassed during his gubernatorial campaign in Florida and his presidential campaign nationwide. The Trump campaign, which has been grappling to match President Biden's fundraising prowess, could greatly benefit from the addition of DeSantis' high-profile donors to its financial arsenal. This influx of funds could potentially bolster the Republican nominee's chances in the upcoming election, allowing for increased campaign activities and outreach efforts.

The meeting, orchestrated by real estate investor Steve Witkoff, was a significant step in the reconciliation process. It was the first time the two men had spoken in person since a divisive primary, in which they launched personal attacks against one another. However, the fact that the Sunshine State governor endorsed Trump following his departure from the race in January is a testament to their ability to put personal differences aside for the greater good of the party, providing reassurance to their supporters. While DeSantis has yet to campaign or fundraise for his formal rival, his remarks on Wednesday indicate that may be changing.

Following the meeting, Trump took to Truth Social to thank DeSantis for the productive meeting. "I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida," the 45th President posted to Truth Social. "We had a great meeting yesterday, arranged by mutual friend Steve Witkoff, at his beautiful Shell Bay Club in Hollywood, Florida," he wrote. "The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC! I greatly appreciate Ron's support in taking back our Country from the Worst President in the History of the United States. November 5th is a BIG DAY!!!"

The repair of the Trump-DeSantis relationship is a good sign for the Republican Party and shows that the divisive primaries earlier this year haven't had lasting effects on both men's ability to forgive and forget as they work to lead the Republican Party in their respective positions. All conservative Americans should unite behind Trump to defeat President Biden in November.
