Gov. Tim Walz Caught In Another Lie After Claiming To Have Used IVF To Have Family - 'Who Lies About Something Like That?'

Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) was caught in yet another lie about his personal story on Tuesday after his wife, First Lady Gwen Walz, confirmed that she did not, despite the Democratic vice presidential candidate's claims, use In vitro fertilization (IVF) to conceive their daughter Hope in the early 2000s but rather relied on a different fertility treatment.

Walz has repeatedly said in previous speeches and interviews that his children were conceived through IVF. During a recent appearance on MSNBC, Walz said, "Today's IVF day. Thank God for IVF. My wife and I have two beautiful children." During a recent rally in Glendale, Arizona, Walz stated, "This one's personal for me about IVF and reproductive care. When we wanted to have children, we went through years of fertility treatment."

Gwen Walz confirmed to CNN that instead of using IVF, the couple used intrauterine insemination. "Like so many who have experienced these challenges, we kept it largely to ourselves at the time – not even sharing the details with our wonderful and close family. The only person who knew in detail what we were going through was our next-door neighbor," the Minessota first lady said. "She was a nurse and helped me with the shots I needed as part of the IUI process. I'd rush home from school, and she would give me the shots to ensure we stayed on track."

The revelation coincides with a pattern of dishonesty from the Democrat governor, which has been exposed in recent weeks after being named Kamala Harris' running mate. Several other claims that Walz has made over the years have been proven to be lies, including his retirement as a Command Sergeant Major from the Army National Guard, claims that he served in a combat zone or carried weapons into war, claims that he was the head coach of a football team despite being an assistant coach, and multiple other dishonest remarks.

Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), who will be debating Walz next month, wrote on X in response to the revelation about IVF, "Today it came out that Tim Walz had lied about having a family via IVF. Who lies about something like that?"

In response to the attack, Harris-Walz campaign spokesperson Mia Ehrenberg told Fox News, "The Trump campaign's attacks on Mrs. Walz are just another example of how cruel and out of touch Donald Trump and JD Vance are when it comes to women's healthcare. Infertility is a deeply personal journey, but the Governor and Mrs. Walz came forward to share their story because they know that MAGA attacks on reproductive rights are putting all fertility treatments at risk."
