Greg Abbott Has Two Words For Liberal Mayors Complaining About More Migrant Buses: 'Gear Up'

On Friday, Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) warned mayors of sanctuary cities that they need to “gear up” as he announced that there would be even more buses of migrants being sent to them despite their pleas from the federal government for it to stop.

“President Biden’s continued refusal to secure our border invites thousands of illegal crossings into Texas and our nation each day,” Abbott said in a statement. “Texas communities like Eagle Pass and El Paso should not have to shoulder the unprecedented surge of illegal immigration caused by President Biden’s reckless open border policies.”

“I have directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to deploy additional buses to send these migrants to self-declared sanctuary cities and provide much-needed relief to our overrun border towns,” he added. “Until President Biden upholds his constitutional duty to secure America’s southern border, Texas will continue to deploy as many buses as needed to relieve the strain caused by the surge of illegal crossings.”

The press release also provided updated numbers of how many migrants have been sent to major sanctuary cities. New York City has received the most from Operation Lonestar, bringing in over 14,800 illegals since August of 2022 with Washington D.C. close behind with 11,900 since April of 2022.

Other cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, and Los Angeles have sent over 12,000 migrants between the four cities.

Spokesman for the Texas Division of Emergency Management Seth Christensen provided a comment to Breitbart, saying, “The state of Texas has access to as many buses as necessary to provide relief to our overwhelmed border communities from the massive number of migrants being processed and released by the federal government onto their streets.”

These sanctuary cities have been extremely overwhelmed by the unprecedented number of illegals being brought into them. New York City has struggled the most, currently providing shelter for over 60,000 migrants and recently announcing that they may begin evicting single adult migrants on Saturday, per The Daily Caller News Foundation

The city has had to spend over $2 billion so far on the migrants and the crisis is estimated to cost a whopping $12 billion overall, all coming out of New York State and New York City residents’ wallets.
