WATCH: Moderators Have To Intervene After Chris Christie Is Drowned Out By Boos From Debate Crowd

Chris Christie (R-NJ) did not have a very good night at the Republican debate, consistently losing in verbal sparring matches with fellow candidate Vivek Ramaswamy (R) as well as being booed so hard at one point that host Bret Baier had to interrupt the crowds boos to permit Christie to speak again.

Things immediately got to a rough start for the former New Jersey governor whenever he was immediately booed upon introduction in the debate. It didn’t get much better for him as throughout the night the strong Trump critic continued to get notable boos from the crowd even whenever parts would be cheering for his answers.

Christie at one point in the debate interrupted Ramaswamy, saying that he had enough of “some who sounds like ChatGPT” and attempting to compare the young upstart to former President Barack Obama, something that got a lot of cocked eyebrows from watchers. Of course, he was also met with a wave of boos throughout his attack on Ramaswamy.

Vivek fired back, jokingly saying “Give me a hug just like you did to Obama and you'll help elect me just like you did to Obama. Give me that damn hug, brother."

That would be far from the last time that the two Republicans butted heads on stage. When the topic of whether or not the candidates would support Donald Trump being the nominee. All candidates besides Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) and Christie said they would, leading to the two Republicans once again battling it out.

Throughout the discussion, the New Jersey politician fought with both Ramaswamy and the crowd, at one point even pointing out the massive amount of booing by saying “Booing is allowed, but it doesn’t change the truth.” His acknowledgment of the boos did nothing to ease the anger of the crowd, culminating in Christie failing to get a sentence out while the crowd booed so fervently it brought the debate to a halt.

Doing the massive wave of boos, Ramaswamy looked toward Christie, smiling at the massive amount of people displeased with the career politician's statements. Bret Baier had to halt the former governor's attempt to speak and turn to the crowd and ask them to stop booing and allow the debate to proceed.

Things did not go Christie's way even once during the whole night but with his track record, it is unsurprising. Someone who runs a campaign on hating a popular figure within his own party is ultimately doomed for failure, especially when they don’t even have that good of a politician career to prop them up.
