MSNBC political analyst Elise Jordan said Monday that President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter Biden illustrates why numerous Americans believe “the system is rigged.”
The president’s Sunday pardon follows months of the claims that he would not intervene after a Delaware jury convicted Hunter Biden of knowingly possessing a firearm as a drug addict and making false statements on a purchase document. Jordan, on “Chris Jansing Reports,” argued the pardon appears “corrupt” and reinforces the perception that President-elect Donald Trump is no more dishonorable than the current president.

“Joe Biden has left the American rule of law system in a perilous position on the eve of the transfer of power. He has proclaimed and professed to care about protecting and upholding institutions, and with this move, it just looks corrupt,” Jordan said. “It looks like he cares more about using his political power to protect the powerful, in this case, his son … This is just in a nutshell exactly why so many Americans think the system is rigged and politicians are corrupt and they conflate what Biden did and Trump did, whether right or wrong.”
“That’s why, one of the many reasons that you saw the election go the way they did for Donald Trump and Americans were willing, after all of Donald Trump’s convictions, to give him another chance just because they think the whole system is rotten,” she continued. “And I also would just be shocked if President Trump now does not give blanket pardons to the January 6th rioters for what they did on January 6th.”
After the president unveiled his pardon, Trump asked on Truth Social if it would “include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years,” calling their treatment “an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!” CNN presidential historian Tim Naftali argued Monday that the president’s move likely strengthens Trump’s resolve to fulfill his vow to pardon Jan. 6 protesters.
“I fear that though President-elect Trump didn’t need an excuse to engage in wide-scale pardoning, for example, of the January 6th — those that have [been] convicted for crimes on January 6th or as a result of January 6th — this just I think, helps justify it for President-elect Trump,” Naftali asserted.
Radio host Charlamagne Tha God said Monday that Democrats lack moral superiority over Republicans following the pardon.
“I just want Democrats to stop acting like they are on this moral high ground politically when they have shown us they’re not. You know, whether it’s skipping the primary process when Biden had stepped down and things like Biden pardoning his son,” Charlamagne said. “Stop acting like y’all are the pure party and Republicans aren’t.”
