At the Super Bowl this past Sunday night, country music superstar Chris Stapleton was tapped to perform the National Anthem, singing a rendition that left fans, players, and coaches alike unable to hold back tears.
Standing on the 50-yard line, accompanied by only his guitar, with a 35-yard wide American flag behind him, the Kentucky native slowly, methodically, and melodically, made his way through the National Anthem, adding his signature style and flair to every note and verse.
As he made his way through the iconic verses, the camera panned to multiple players and coaches on the sidelines, most notably Philadelphia Eagles Center Jason Kelce, and Head Coach Nick Sirianni, both of whom were noticeably moved to tears.

As the ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ singer reached the climax, and ultimately the conclusion of the anthem, he was met with a ruckus ovation, and it felt as if everyone in America was moved by his performance.
According to Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Stapleton sang, “The most beautiful national anthem.”

But we could have gone without the rest of the wokeness.

Even if you're not a Chris Stapleton fan, if this rendition of the national anthem doesn't choke you up, you may not be as American as you thought you were.
Gotta be honest. I could hardly swallow and had tears in my eyes. pic.twitter.com/fMmIK2XGnE

Stapleton’s rendition of the anthem was accompanied by the first all-women team of aviators to do the flyover at the Super Bowl. This was done in part to commemorate 50 years of women flying in the Navy and included three tactical aircraft squadrons.

Many are comparing Stapleton’s performance of the National Anthem to late singer Whitney Houston’s phenomenal rendition back at Super Bowl XXV in 1991, which is widely regarded as the best performance of the Anthem ever performed.
