It seems that the saying “all publicity is good publicity” is being proven true as country star Jason Aldean’s latest song ‘Try That In A Small Town’ soared to the number one spot on iTunes following a controversy over the words of the song and its filming location.
As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the song from the country music singer about how things that take place in large cities would not be able to work in a small town garnered immense criticism from the left. Many claimed that the song pushed a racist agenda and also attacked Aldean for choosing to film the music video at a place where a lynching took place in 1917.
The criticism was so immense it prompted the singer to issue a response on Twitter, writing, “In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests,” he wrote on Twitter. “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far.”
The tweet also clarified the intent of the song, discussing how the music was about a “feeling of a community” that Aldean had experienced whenever he was younger and not what so many on the left are pushing.
Many jumped to the support of Aldean, sharing the song on their social media account and discussing the strange controversy surrounding it. Even former President Donald Trump himself took to his Truth Social account to write “Jason Aldean is a fantastic guy who just came out with a great new song. Support Jason all the way. MAGA!!!”
It seems that the discussion surrounding the song had a positive effect as it was shared on Thursday that the song had managed to hit number one on the US iTunes charts. The YouTube video has also managed to garner 4.9 million views in less than a week with another video featuring just the lyrics having another 600,000 views.
It seems that the attempt by the left to ‘cancel’ Jason Aldean over his song has had the inverse effect and propelled him into the limelight. It’s a positive note as the song does nothing to actually deserve any controversy and is simply whiny liberals finding anything and everything to be offended about.

Not a dang thing wrong with this song, it talks about the real American values. And how real comunitys stick together through thick and thin, in contrast to how these American haters destroy and burn down towns for just utter hate!...We true Americans stand with jason Aldean with his message of Love and unity for true Americans.
