Jim Jordan and James Comer Defend Trump, Release A Joint Statement On ‘Unconstitutional Gag Order’

Representatives Jim Jordan (R-OH) and James Comer (R-KY) released a joint statement on the report that the New York Attorney was considering seeking a gag order being placed on the former president.

The statement simply reads “We are deeply concerned by reports the New York District Attorney may seek an unconstitutional gag order. To put any restrictions on the ability of President Trump to discuss his mistreatment at the hands of this politically motivated prosecutor would only further demonstrate the weaponization of the New York justice system. To even contemplate stifling the speech of the former command in chief and current candidate for President is at odds with everything America stands for.”

Roger Stone, a “veteran GOP operative” who is no stranger to a gag order himself, tweeted that “I appreciate @TuckerCarlson having me on tonight to say that the political effort to gag President @realDonaldTrump will not only be will be unconstitutional but would also constitute Election Interference.”

Mr. Stone noted in his interview with Mr. Carlson that “the idea that they might gag Donald Trump is really a testimony to his effectiveness as a counterpuncher…he has…very effectively question the falsity of these charges, question the political motivations and funding of District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and question the bias of this judge.” Mr. Stone added that “no where does it say you lose your First Amendment rights if you are charged with a crime.” Mr. Stone sees all this as an effort to undermine Mr. Trump’s momentum in the 2024 presidential race.

Mr. Carlson noted that in the gagging of Mr. Stone on the grounds he might influence the jury was a one street ruling as it did not prevent the media outlets like CNN  “which spent a year attacking you [Mr. Stone] every day” and influencing the public.

Mr. Stone pointed out in his unjust trial there was never any evidence of Russian collusion proffered. Mr. Stone then returned to Trump’s case saying that since the charges are politically motivated a gag order, however narrowly tailored, makes no sense.

Alvin Bragg’s Democrat Predecessor Blasts Weak Case Against Trump

On the case, which is predicated on Trump’s alleged hush hush money to Stormy Daniels being an illegal campaign contribution, Robert Barnes, a civil rights attorney, notes that “[f]ederal law requires THE purpose of any payment be for election. Not a purpose. THE purpose. This protects people from being labeled criminals if their activity also happens to help a candidate. This is why Trump is innocent as a matter of law.”

He also tweeted thatThe #RogerStone judge wasn’t mad that a juror lied to get on the jury to rig the verdict against Roger. The judge was mad that press & public — like @TuckerCarlson & @Cernovich — exposed it to the world. That is what a #RiggedTrial looks like.”
According to early reports by Zerohedge the judge is not inclined to impose a gag order “at this time.”
