Jim Jordan Subpoenas Key Intelligence Officials Central to Covering Up Hunter Biden Laptop Story During 2020 Election

On Tuesday, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, filed two subpoenas for key intelligence officials who were central to covering up the New York Post‘s Hunter Biden laptop story that was published in October 2020 that exposed the president and could have shifted the election.

Jordan filed the subpoenas against former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan both of whom signed onto a letter, published on October 19, 2022, that denounced the New York Post‘s story as Russian disinformation.

“On April 6, 2022, we wrote to you requesting documents and information about the public statement you signed in October 202 that falsely implied the New York Post‘s reporting about Hunter Biden was the product of Russian disinformation,” Jordan’s subpoena began. “This statement served as a basis for partisan operatives to attempt to delegitimize allegations, as reported in the Post, that Hunter Biden had used the position and influence of his father for personal gain with the awareness of President Biden.”

“The statement was part of a broader effort among national news organizations and social media companies to minimize and censor the Post‘s reporting-and thereby limit public awareness of the allegations-weeks before the 2020 presidential election,” the document explained.

“The coordinated effort to suppress public dissemination of the serious allegations about Hunter Biden and the Biden family was a grave disservice to American citizens’ informed participation in our democracy,” Jordan added.

The letter in question was signed by 50 ex-intelligence officials, many from the Obama White House, who baselessly claimed that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation. At the time, James Clapper told CNN that it was a “classic textbook Soviet Russian tradecraft at work.”

“It is for all these reasons that we write to say that the arrival on the US pollical scene of emails purportedly belonging to Vice President Biden’s son Hunter, much of it related to his <me serving on the Board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation,” the letter read. “We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement — just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case.”

“If we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this,” the two Obama appointees wrote along with 48 other intelligence officials.

With Chairman Jordan on the case, it is likely that Americans will get answers about how these officials used their influence to convince the left-wing media that the story that could have shifted the presidential election was Russian disinformation and subsequently covered up. The American people deserve answers about if these officials were actively lying to cover up the story in order to favor President Biden.
