After Massive Rally, John Fetterman Can't Help But 'Respect' Trump's Passionate Pennsylvania Fan Base

Even Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) had nice things to say about Donald Trump for having such a fervent following in his state of Pennsylvania, saying that he can’t help but have “respect” for the former president being able to hold such a passionate support base.

On Friday, The New York Times published an interview with the Pennsylvania senator where he was asked whether or not the most recent indictments brought against Trump would “hurt him politically” within Pennsylvania.

"It doesn’t matter,” he said bluntly. “I’m a senator, and I’m not sure how many times he’s been indicted. He’s been impeached twice. Has that changed anything? You’re still seeing Trump signs everywhere in Pennsylvania. You have to respect his strength in all of that."

Fetterman also added that despite some drawbacks of the New York City businessman, he would still be able to perform quite well, saying, "Trump would be very competitive in Pennsylvania. But Trump has to perform above his ceiling. I think there’s a hard ceiling in Pennsylvania he can’t get past."

The interview then shifted to asking whether or not the senator believed that President Biden would be mentally fit enough to serve another term as president, something many people have questioned about Fetterman himself. Fetterman has frequently been criticized over his speaking ability in Congress and the way he handles himself, many believing that he hasn’t fully recovered from his time in hospital care, per the DC Enquirer

The Pennsylvania government official strongly believed that the aging Biden would be able to serve another term in the Oval Office, saying, "I’m not concerned about his age. And even if I was, who cares? There’s nothing you can do about his age. I’ve spent enough time around him. He’s sharp, he’s aware, he is absolutely up to the task. I’ll be doing whatever his campaign asks of me. I know Pennsylvania, I’ve won Pennsylvania. I’ll be helping with whatever he asks."

Fetterman then spoke about the numerous health issues that he’s faced that have caused him to miss a massive portion of the votes during his time away. The former Pennsylvania mayor was originally hospitalized in February after feeling lightheaded but after the first release, he went back again in late February for depression, per DC Enquirer

"It’s a burden, but a privilege, too, to talk about it. It’s also an opportunity to be very bipartisan," he stated on the matter. "Red or blue, if you have depression, get help, please. Don’t ever, ever, ever harm yourself. Do not leave behind a blueprint of that."

"In my own situation, in my very lowest, I started thinking about [self-harm]. And I realized that if I do harm myself, I will leave behind for my children a blueprint that, if something happens with you, that’s the answer. I can’t do that to anyone," he continued.

While Fetterman’s words on mental health ring true, they don’t change his inability to properly serve in Congress. He and Joe Biden are both unfit to serve in their offices and instead someone with a base that you can’t help but “respect” like Trump should be put into the office of president.
