On Tuesday, GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake (R-AZ) secured a major endorsement from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, responsible for major fundraising and support of Senate candidates nationwide. The endorsement likely solidifies Lake's grasp of the Arizona GOP's nomination as she faces off against Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) in November. The only other candidate currently running for the Republican nomination is Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.
"Kari Lake is one of the most talented candidates in the country. Kari is building out an effective campaign operation that has what it takes to flip Arizona's Senate seat in November," NRSC Chair Steve Daines said in a statement. "I'm proud to endorse Kari Lake for United States Senate."
Daines and the rest of the NRSC are set to host a fundraiser for Lake in Washington, D.C., on March 6 to rally Republican support behind the former Republican gubernatorial candidate.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of Chairman Daines and the NRSC,” Lake responded. “We are uniting Republicans in Arizona and have a clear path to victory, The Senate Majority runs through Arizona.”
Lake's solidification of support comes after she gained the endorsement of 45th President Donald Trump and, most recently, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).
"Kari Lake will go to DC to shake things up, and that's exactly the kind of leadership that Arizona needs in the United States Senate," Rand Paul said about the Arizona Republican. "I am proud to endorse Kari Lake for the United States Senate because she has the policies, the drive, and desire to defeat the Washington War Machine and restore American liberties."
"Kari Lake is MAGA to her core and cannot be bought by the establishment. I am proud to endorse her for the United States Senate in Arizona," Rep. Gaetz said. "I am very much look[ing] forward to watching her shake up the halls of power."
While Lake has cemented her position in the Arizona GOP, the current holder of the Senate seat, Kyrsten Sinema, has yet to make up her mind about running for reelection. Sinema, who left the Democratic Party and became an independent in 2022, has kept quiet about her future political career. If she refuses to run again, however, the race for the seat is neck and neck, with recent polling having Lake up by one or two points on Democrat Ruben Gallego. Either way, the Arizona Senate race will be close as both parties head to The Copper State to fight for the Senate majority.
