It seems even after their service, veterans are still ready for a fight at any time. A Marine veteran who fought in the Korean War successfully fought off a pair of men who followed him to his house and pepper sprayed the American serviceman.
The footage of the incident comes after the garage camera at the veteran's house captured the entire incident. The two men in hoods approached the gentleman at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday as he was arriving back at his California residence. The man had previously attended church alongside his wife and then stopped by Home Depot, according to a family member.
The first hooded man was seen approaching the veteran saying that the veteran had hit his Tesla, causing the former Marine to move his eyes to his bumper. The assailant then responded by spraying the man with pepper spray out of nowhere.
The veteran attempted to block the spray which gave the attackers the chance to begin the fight but it seems that Korea taught the Marine a few things as he began to land blow after blow on the would-be robbers. He was able to successfully chase the men out of his driveway and back into their car.
“He fought back hard, and I think they were caught off guard because someone that old would fight back,” said the son of the Marine veteran to ABC7. “My dad was kind of confused because they came around him real quick. Thank God he had glasses. I think it gave him a little bit of the ability to fight back”
The son also thanked the landscapers that rushed to the help of the veteran, saying, "Those guys are heroes. My dad was screaming, fighting back. And they came running around and helped chase the guys. They didn't realize there were more guys here. And they just boned out."
Police have stated that they believe that this attack may be connected to a similar incident where a pair of thieves followed another elderly man to his home before attacking and robbing the man of his $2,500 watch.
Regardless of how long they’ve been out of service, veterans seem to always know how to put up a fight against anyone who is looking for it. Never mess with those who served their country because you’ll never come out on top.
