According to polls conducted in June, the 45th President Donald J. Trump's GOP nomination for the 2024 presidential election is all but certain. Trump's lead is substantially widening, showing him up by double digits on a consistent basis while his chief opponent, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), appears to still be hemorrhaging support.
The Emerson College survey shows that Trump holds a commanding lead over DeSantis of 38 percentage points. The current polling stands at 59 percent to 21 percent, a nearly insurmountable gap under the best of circumstances made worse by the fact that they are also moving in the wrong direction for the younger Florida politician. Just two months ago Trump still led at 46 percent support.
Despite the recent addition of former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) to the mix, it appears that DeSantis, while losing support to Christie, has effectively edged out other contenders polling under him. Emerson College noted,NATIONAL POLL

"In the 2024 Republican Primary, former President Trump maintains a majority of Republican voters’ support with 59%, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 21%, and former Vice President Mike Pence with 6%. No other candidate reaches 5%."
The poll, which is weighted in favor of Democrats by approximately 1.5%, still has Trump in a statistical dead heat with Biden whilst DeSantis trails the incumbent octagenarian president by 5.8 percent thus presaging a Republican defeat if he is the nominee.

In an additional poll from YouGov/Yahoo News Trump is up an even twenty points against DeSantis with 53 percent to DeSantis' 33 percent.
Surprisingly, Trump's support seems to have only grown since his indictment. A Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies, cited by NBC News on Sunday, showed Trump's lead to have grown by five points since the indictment.
Trump himself shared that particular poll to Truth Social over the weekend.
“For the first time in history, a former president has been indicted, and we can’t find a marker in this survey that it’s had an impact with his standing,” Public Opinion Strategies co-founder Bill McInturff said, according to Newsmax.
The Real Clear Politics polling average as of this report has Trump at 52.1 percent followed by DeSantis at 21.5 percent. Other candidates are in the single digits with former Vice President Mike Pence (R-IN) at 5.8%, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley (R-SC) at 3.6%, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) at 3.5%, Christie at 2.5%, Vivek Ramaswamy at 2.1% and all others polling under one percent.
