A liberal woman who lives in San Francisco is going viral after making a TikTok complaining about the state of the city, sharing a story about how she was harassed when she was going to buy groceries.
The woman, named Hannah Ayla (account named hanayla), posted the TikTok video on Sunday recounting her experience. She started showing her hands shaking, saying how she was going to get groceries but never really felt “fully safe” within the California city.
She says that when she was leaving the grocery store she walked past a man who supposedly said “‘Move you stupid b**ch’” to her and spat in her face. As any normal person would be, Ayla was appalled by what just occurred and called out to the man, asking why the man would say such a thing. After her asking the question, the man allegedly responded with “Move or I’ll rape you.”
Ayla also recounted how she was surrounded by other shoppers but no one intervened in the situation because they “can’t handle something else in San Francisco.” She finished by asking if her fellow San Franciscans also feel just as unsafe as she does within the city, saying, “I don’t feel safe ever. I literally never feel safe.” In the first 12 hours since posting the video, Ayla has garnered 281,000 views on the video. She also made a follow-up video about a commenter who said “You get what you vote for,” something that many different commenters said some variation of. In her response video, she said that her video “made it to the wrong side of TikTok,” and that it had nothing to do with the politics of the city but instead was meant to share her “experience as a woman.” She said that she has “been harassed in red states and blue states” in an attempt to invalidate the statement of the commenter. She then made a comparison, saying that when she sees shootings in open carry states like Texas or Florida that she doesn’t think “That’s what you get, that’s what you voted for,” though the comparison really doesn’t line up. A point she did make that everyone can agree with is that “no one deserves to be assaulted or harassed in the street,” though of course with her voting record, it doesn’t seem like she puts her votes where her mouth is. Commenters of both videos were not too apologetic with her, with many users still reminding her that regardless of whether she wants to believe it or not, this is what she voted for and thus is what she gets. In the second video, numerous users attempt to inform her that there is a difference between deserving the harassment she received and getting what she voted for. No one deserves to be openly harassed in the street for just going about their day-to-day activities, regardless of who they vote for, but that doesn’t mean they’re not responsible for making the choices that allow a city to become like that. The video is just another example of classic liberal hypocrisy, where someone directly votes for policies that enable negative behavior and then lament whenever it happens to them. Hopefully, she can learn in the future, but considering her follow-up video it’s highly unlikely that’s the case.
