On Tuesday, New Hampshire residents will go to the polls to cast their ballots in the nation's first presidential primary of 2024, with many expecting frontrunner and 45th President Donald Trump to handily defeat challenger Nikki Haley (R-SC) by double digits. Joining Trump on the campaign trail in the Granite State were several formal rivals and many allies that have come together to get the leader of the America First movement over the finish line and into the general election fight against Joe Biden.
One of the most prominent individuals to join Trump on the campaign trail is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who announced that she was going to help Trump campaign on Sunday. "I'm so excited to be heading to The Granite State today to support President Trump in the first in the nation primary! Tomorrow's victory will be historic!" Greene wrote on X/Twitter. "Live Free or Die!" Greene ended up heading to the Red Arrow Diner to encourage Granite Staters to get out to vote and to interview with Real America's Voice.
Greene joins a host of other prominent Republicans in recent days who are all in on Trump 2024, which include formal rivals Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy (R-OH). Many Trump allies have also come out to support the former president with Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake (R-AZ), and many others are traveling to the northeast to get out the vote for Trump.
While Trump is expected to end the presidential primary on Tuesday with a decisive victory, voters in Dixville Notch, a small municipality in the north of the state made up of only six registered voters, carried out their midnight tradition to be the first to vote in the primary. The six residents voted for Haley unanimously, leading to an early six-person lead over Trump in the primary election. However, the clean sweep does not indicate how the rest of New Hampshire will vote. For reference, the residents of Dixville Notch wrote in Michael Bloomberg (D-NY) in the Republican primary in 2020, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) beat out Trump in 2016. Trump went on to win the New Hampshire primary in both election years.
According to Five Thirty Eight, Trump has the support of 53.9 percent of voters in the Granite State, while Haley only has 36.3 percent support. On the national stage, Trump dominates Haley with 67.7 percent support compared to her 12.4 percent. Given these numbers, Haley could drop out after the New Hampshire primary to avoid an embarrassing defeat in her home state of South Carolina, where Trump enjoys over 60 percent support.
