Liz Cheney’s Primary Opponent Gets Key Endorsement From Top Senator As Her Poll Numbers Continue To Crater

Harriet Hageman, Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY) primary opponent, continues to make significant advances as the race draws closer, with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) reportedly throwing his support behind her.

“Harriet will be a rock-ribbed conservative congresswoman who will always defend the Constitution,” Cruz said during an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital.  “I ask my fellow conservatives to join me in supporting Harriet Hageman’s campaign today.”

While Cruz’s support is a seemingly welcome addition to the campaign, Hageman has also received endorsements from former President Donald Trump, Reps. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and GOP Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).

Hageman has distinguished herself from Cheney by aligning with conservatives like Cruz and Trump, which has spawned a successful campaign strategy that is bearing out in the polls.

New polling data from last week appears to back up Hageman’s surge and makes the likelihood of her beating out Cheney, even stronger.

“Harriett Hageman is likely to receive 52 percent of the vote, while Cheney is currently only getting 32 percent, DC Enquirer reported. “The remaining votes are divided up amongst lesser-known candidates.”

Hageman posted on Twitter this week that: “I am thankful to receive an ‘A’ rating from the NRA! In Congress, you can always count on me to defend our rights and freedoms, especially our right to bear arms, from the Radical Left.”

Unlike Cheney, who voted with the Democrats on “The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act,” Hageman isn’t afraid to show off her support of the Second Amendment.

The bill Cheney voted for, expanded background checks for those under 21 years old and provided $750 million for state-level red flag law programs.

“The Second Amendment is one of the most fundamental rights in America,” Hageman wrote on her campaign site. “The authority to protect yourself and your family must never be infringed. Now, the radical Biden Administration is attempting to strip our rights away.”

She added, “They treat law-abiding gun owners as criminals and push to curtail gun rights at every opportunity. I will always fight to protect our Second Amendment and will never back down to the tyranny of this Administration or any others who are attempting to infringe upon our Constitutional rights.”

With the primary election fast approaching Hageman is fighting to keep her lead over Cheney, and hopefully, unseat the infamous RINO (Republican In Name Only) next month in the process.
