It's A 'Huge Win': Republican Attorney General Celebrates After Trump Appointed Judge Shatters Biden's Big Tech Censorship Cabal

A U.S. Federal District Court has issued a preliminary injunction against the Biden administration forbidding federal officials from engaging with big-tech firms to censor content on social networks.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, who with Missouri AG Andrew Bailey brought the suit against President Joe Biden, called the ruling “historic," according to The New York Times. He tweeted, "Today’s historic ruling is a big step forward in the continued fight to prohibit our government from unconstitutional censorship!"

Bailey described the ruling as a "huge win in the fight to defend our most fundamental freedoms."

In a post to Twitter, he wrote, "The Court has granted our motion to BLOCK top officials in the federal government from violating the First Amendment rights of millions of Americans. What a way to celebrate Independence Day."

In a statement from Landry's office, the Lousiana AG said,

“Today, we won an historic injunction against the Biden Administration, preventing it from censoring the core political speech of ordinary Americans on social media,” said Attorney General Landry.

“The evidence in our case is shocking and offensive with senior federal officials deciding that they could dictate what Americans can and cannot say on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other platforms about COVID-19, elections, criticism of the government, and more.”

The court order prevents "the Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States Census Bureau, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Department of Justice, members of the Executive Office of the President of the United States – including the White House Press Secretary, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the United States Department of Homeland Security, and the United States Department of State," from pressuring or colluding with any social media firms to suppress any content on their platforms.

In his ruling, Trump appointed Judge Terry A. Doughty's condemnation of the Biden administration's alleged actions was clear.

He wrote, "Although this case is still relatively young, and at this stage the Court is only examining it in terms of Plaintiffs’ likelihood of success on the merits, the evidence produced thus far depicts an almost dystopian scenario."

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, a period perhaps best characterized by widespread doubt and uncertainty, the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian 'Ministry of Truth.'"

The 155-page ruling describes the claims and exhaustive evidence in detail with Judge Doughty stating, "The Plaintiffs have presented substantial evidence in support of their claims that they were the victims of a far-reaching and widespread censorship campaign."

According to The Washington Examiner, an official at the White House said the Biden DOJ is reviewing the decision,

"DOJ is reviewing the court’s injunction and will evaluate its options in this case," the official said.

They claimed, "This administration has promoted responsible actions to protect public health, safety, and security when confronted by challenges like a deadly pandemic and foreign attacks on our elections. Our consistent view remains that social media platforms have a critical responsibility to take account of the effects their platforms are having on the American people, but make independent choices about the information they present."
