WATCH: Matt Gaetz TEARS Into The FBI After Durham Report, DEMANDS Charges And Budget Cuts Against The Bureau

Representative Matt Gaetz (FL-R) is demanding that the FBI immediately receive budget cuts and have agents be criminally charged for their misconduct in the Donald Trump investigation, ‘Crossfire Hurricane.’

As previously covered by the DC Enquirer, the report released by special counsel John Durham shows damning evidence against the Department of Justice and the FBI for their investigation into Donald Trump's supposed collusion with Russia during the 2016 election. The investigation concluded that the FBI rushed into their investigation, utilizing unreliable intelligence or willfully ignoring information that goes against their collusion theory.

The report concludes much of what Trump has claimed that the investigation was a “witch hunt” into the then-presidential candidate.

Matt Gaetz was quick to rush to the support of Trump, slamming the FBI and Justice Department for their mishandling of the investigation. Gaetz released a tweet on his account calling the investigation into Trump an “absolutely DAMNING treatise on the weaponization of the FBI against President Trump.”

Gaetz then appeared on Newsmax Monday night to go further into the Durham report, calling for major changes to be brought to the agencies responsible for the misconduct. Gaetz made strong accusations, saying the FBI has become “the enforcement wing of the Democratic Party to play offense against Trump.”

“I think we have to deauthorize, defang and defund many of these authorities and entities and different task forces that actually converted the just and righteous act of protecting our country with the desire to have a particular political candidate win or lose,” Gaetz stated. Gaetz pointed to the hypocrisies between the Democratic and Republican Parties, saying, “If that had been a Republican operation — an operation to help a Republican candidate — it wouldn’t have ended in a report. It would have ended with real significant indictments.”
Gaetz is adamant that there needs to be consequences for the FBI following their breach of justice, saying, “I think we should claw back the $325 million that Nancy Pelosi had gifted for the new FBI headquarters in the DC area.”

So far, there has been little to no punishment for the FBI nor its agents for the breach of conduct. Only one agent has received any punishment, with only one guilty verdict passed upon a member of the bureau. According to Gaetz, that individual is already practicing law once again in Washington D.C.

Reform of the FBI seems like the bare minimum to amend the injustices committed by the department. This clear preference of parties should never be allowed to happen again, as it functions to undermine the very republic that the United States is founded upon.

The FBI has already issued a statement acknowledging that they had “missteps” during ‘Crossfire Hurricane.’ claiming they’ve already begun to implement “dozens of corrective actions.” The FBI claimed, “Had those reforms been in place in 2016, the missteps identified in the report could have been prevented. This report reinforces the importance of ensuring the FBI continues to do its work with the rigor, objectivity, and professionalism the American people deserve and rightly expect.”
