On Monday, America First candidate Bo Hines officially filed to run in North Carolina's 6th Congressional District, located in the northwestern part of the state centered around Greensboro. The district includes Davidson, Rowan, and Davie counties as well as portions of Cabarrus, Forsyth, and Guilford. Hines, who announced his congressional bid early last month, seeks to unseat Rep. Kathy Manning (D-NC), who became vulnerable after being redistricted by the state legislature.
"Moments ago, I officially filed to run for U.S. Congress," Hines wrote on X/Twitter. "Our nation is in distress, and NC-6 deserves a true outsider in Congress who will fight for the America first values that made our nation great. I'm excited to make this congressional bid official, and I look forward to securing the nomination in March and winning the confidence of this great district."
Hines, a former North Carolina state football player, previously ran for North Carolina's 13th Congressional District in the 2022 midterms and secured President Trump's endorsement in the race. Despite Trump's support, he was narrowly defeated by Rep. Wiley Nichel (D-NC), who won 51.6 percent of the vote to Hines' 48.4 percent.
In North Carolina's 6th Congressional District, Hines will take on former Congressman Mark Walker (R-NC) and many other candidates vying for the party's nomination, including Republican Christian Castelli and multiple others.
"Our nation under Joe Biden faces a crisis of leadership, and many in the next generation of Americans – my generation – have abandoned the values that made this country great," Hines wrote on X/Twitter when he announced his bid. "I cannot sit on the sidelines and watch the nation I love decline any further. As your next Congressman, I will fight D.C.'s reckless spending, work to restore America's standing in the world and strive valiantly to put America first every day. America's great comeback starts right here in NC-6."
Since his campaign launch, Hines has been putting in the work to meet with constituents across the district with recent visits to the Davie County GOP Christmas Banquet, the NC-6 convention, and several other events across NC-6. Hines has also released his first campaign ad of the cycle, ensuring voters that he will stand alongside President Trump once he returns to the White House next year.
