Zuckerberg has struck again, continuing to show clear political bias in blocking the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. team from creating an Instagram page using their Team Kennedy email address after having his other account banned from the platform years ago.
The Democratic nominee was first banned from the platform on his personal account in 2021 for making posts and claims against the COVID-19 vaccination and other vaccines, per AP News. The account was suspended with over 900k followers with a spokesperson for Facebook later writing, “We removed this account for repeatedly sharing debunked claims about the coronavirus or vaccines.”
Kennedy himself wasn’t attempting to appeal his ban but instead made an Instagram using his campaign email, but before even setting up the page, the account received a 180-day suspension. The ban didn’t immediately inform the RFK team of the reasoning behind their account's punishment.
The 69-year-old took to Twitter to share the punishment, writing in a tweet, “Interesting… when we use our TeamKennedy email address to set up @instagram accounts we get an automatic 180-day ban. Can anyone guess why that’s happening?”
Kennedy followed up his original tweet by thanking Elon Musk for allowing him and his campaign to have a free and open voice on the campaign. “To silence a major political candidate is profoundly undemocratic. Social media is the modern equivalent of the town square. How can democracy function if only some candidates have access to it?” he wrote.Interesting… when we use our TeamKennedy email address to set up @instagram accounts we get an automatic 180-day ban. The Twitter owner himself was happy to hop into the discussion, asking if the Democratic nominee would like to host a Twitter Spaces discussion with him in the coming week. Kennedy responded enthusiastically for a 2 p.m. ET time.To silence a major political candidate is profoundly undemocratic. Social media is the modern equivalent of the town square. How can democracy function if only some candidates have access to it?

It’s clear Meta and Zuckerberg will do whatever it takes to ensure their political allies succeed, silencing whoever they feel like from their platforms. The clear election inference is becoming more and more blatant each day and something needs to be done soon.Would you like to do a Spaces discussion with me next week?
