Michigan Salon Faces Backlash After Taking A Stand Against LGBTQ+ Insanity

A salon owner in Michigan is putting their foot down against LGBTQ insanity, putting out a Facebook post informing the community surrounding them that anyone who does not fit into the gender binary of male or female is “not welcome” at her salon. Her post prompted outrage from the LGBTQ community around the city.

The salon, Studio 8 Hair Lab, made the statement in a now-deleted Facebook post. "If a human identifies as anything other than a man/woman, please seek services at a local pet groomer," the removed post read, according to Fox News. "You are not welcome at this salon. Period. Should you request to have a preferred pronoun used please note we may simply refer to you as ‘hey you.’"

The reason that the post was made was over a new law signed in by Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) which prohibits any discrimination based on a person's gender identity. The bill specifically codifies a decision made by the Michigan Supreme Court last year, according to Bridge Michigan

Citizens of Traverse City, where the salon is located, immediately began sharing the post around and criticizing the owner. People on Facebook were calling the post discriminatory and calling for members of the town to stop attending the salon. Christine Geiger, who owns the salon, followed up on her deleted post to defend her views and explain her reasoning.

"LGB are more than welcome however the rest of it is not something I support. This stance was taken to insure [sic] that clients have the best experience and I am admitting that since I am not willing to play the pronoun game or cater to requests outside of what I perceive as normal this probably isn’t the best option for that type of client," the follow-up post read.

Even with the follow-up post, many people still weren’t pleased and harassed the business owners' Facebook page with posts. Many claimed that what was posted by Geiger violates the law, but since she hasn’t actually refused business to anyone and instead only made her opinion on the subject clear, there is no actual violation of the discrimination law.

It’s bizarre that America has reached a point where a business owner deciding not to endorse or play into the insanity that is the non-LGB parts of LGBTQ+ can draw such outrage and questions of legality.

The entire discussion around it seems comical if not for the serious legal repercussions it has. Even in Michigan, free speech is still protected by the First Amendment, whether the far-left likes it or not.
