Mickey Doubles Down — Disney World To Host LGBTQ Summit Following Conflict with DeSantis

The Walt Disney Company appears to be doubling down on its pro-LGBTQ plans in spite of, or perhaps because of the controversy between the left-leaning entertainment giant and the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis.

According to The Miami Herald, Disney has elected to play host to a major conference on “promoting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights in the workplace in Central Florida this September, gathering executives and professionals from the world’s largest companies.”

The move comes following a dispute over the course of more than a year that saw Disney launch a public opinion campaign against DeSantis’ efforts to keep the indoctrination of gender ideology and sexual preference out of elementary school curricula before fourth grade. Throughout the ordeal, left-leaning media falsely characterized the bill as the “Don’t Say Gay” law, properly Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill.

In February, DeSantis struck back at the Walt Disney Company by revoking its special self-governing status through the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a county-like political entity that was arranged by Walt Disney himself and the Florida state government when the resort was constructed.

DeSantis signed a bill into law giving him the power to appoint a five-member board to oversee government services at the Disney resort, stripping the corporation of its autonomy.

“Today, the corporate kingdom finally comes to an end,” DeSantis said in February at the bill signing. “This is what accountability looks like.”

The conference is set to take place at the Disney World resort in Orlando, Florida and will coincide with the 2024 presidential election where DeSantis is widely expected to compete with 45th President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination.

The Herald reported that numerous prominent American corporations and even agencies of the Biden administration are expected to participate in the conference, including but not limited to Apple, McDonald’s, Uber, Walmart, Hilton, Amazon, Boeing, Cracker Barrel and John Deere as well as the U.S. State Department and the CIA.
