In a video clip now adapted as a meme by popular X App user @PapiTrumpo, Colton was filmed asking Pence, "How has life treated you since Tucker Carlson ruined your career?"
The clip cuts before Pence has an opportunity to answer, but an awkward delay implies he wasn't prepared to respond to such direct criticism and mockery.
Reached for comment by the DC Enquirer Duncan replied by text,
"If AI generated a stereotypical Republican politician that panders to voters in the worst possible way, it would be Mike Pence. He got up on the hay bales (wearing the stereotypical blue jeans and button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up) and started talking about driving a tractor and owning a Ford pickup truck. When he started taking questions from the crowd, I saw my chance, and took my chance, to expose this hack and remind folks he's just another all-talk, no action politician. Americans aren't buying whatever he's selling, which is why he is only polling 1% higher than I am (I'm currently polling at 0.0%)."
Conservative commentator Benny Johnson shared the full video in which Pence answers,
"You know, I had a very sporting debate with that former talk show host at Fox. And I will tell you: ummm... you know... when some people put ou ta video from that, that cut off the back half of my answer, I simply tweeted the whole three minutes and said 'We used to call that fake news.'"
The 'career-ending' moment that Duncan referenced came during Carlson's interview with Pence at the FAMiLY Leadership Summit in Iowa. Carlson asked the former Vice President, "You are distressed that the Ukrainians don't have enough American tanks. Every city in America has become worse over the past few years," Tucker said. "Drive around, there is not one city that has gotten better in the United States. It is visible."
"Our economy has degraded, the suicide rate has jumped, public filth and disorder and crime has exponentially increased. And yet, your concern is that the Ukrainians, a country most people can't find on a map, who have received tens of billions of US tax dollars don't have enough tanks," he explained, before asking, "Where's the concern for the United States in that?"
Pence's response was heard nationwide: "That's not my concern," as previously reported by DC Enquirer.
"Tucker I've heard that routine from you before but that's not my concern," he continued. "I'm running for president of the United States because I think this country is in a lot of trouble. I think Joe Biden has weakened America at home and abroad," he added, providing context Pence claims was missed. Even with full context, many have condemned the comment.
