Missouri Attorney General To Sue New York After 'Lawfare' Against Donald Trump

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey revealed on Thursday that he is preparing a lawsuit against the state of New York for its "unconstitutional lawfare" against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump after the 45th president was found guilty by a Manhattan jury last month.

"I will be filing suit against the State of New York for their direct attack on our democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump. It's time to restore the rule of law," the Missouri attorney general announced on X. "We have to fight back against a rogue prosecutor who is trying to take a presidential candidate off the campaign trail. It sabotages Missourians' right to a free and fair election. Stay tuned."

Bailey explained on his podcast, "The Bailey Wire," that the case, which would be named "Missouri v. New York," would go directly to the Supreme Court given that it would be one state suing the other. The Missouri official will argue that efforts by state and local officials in New York, such as New York Attorney General Letitia James (D-NY) and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D), have infringed upon Missourians' right to a free and fair election.

Bailey launched an investigation into the Justice Department last month in an effort to uncover whether the DOJ was involved in the prosecutions against Trump after the third highest ranking DOJ official, Matthew Colangelo, left the DOJ to go work for Bragg at the Manhattan DA's office.

"Radical progressives in New York are trying to rig the 2024 election. We have to stand up and fight back," Bailey said, according to Fox News. "The investigations and subsequent prosecutions of former President Donald J. Trump appear to have been conducted in coordination with the United States Department of Justice."

"The voters of Missouri have a solid interest in having a sovereign interest in having access to, that means having physical access to and hearing from a presidential candidate for the top office in the United States government," he explained to Fox News on Friday. "You have leftists in blue states committing unfounded lawfare against President Trump and denying Missourians access to their chosen presidential candidate. Millions and millions of Missourians have voted for President Trump and deserve the ability to be able to hear from him. We can't let states like New York deny Missourians access."

Bailey's decision to file suit against New York is a bold first step to fight back against the rampant lawfare campaign pursued against the 45th president. Conservatives across the country will watch the case with much interest as the Missouri attorney general takes the fight to the left-wing prosecutors going after Trump.
